PBL Palooza highlighted student internships, field experiences, research projects

Northwest Missouri State University students shared their academic and profession based learning at PBL Palooza where the event highlights what students have learned from internships, field experiences, practicums and research projects.

Director of Partnerships and Placement for Career Services at Northwest, Jill Brown, says what she loves about PBL Palooza is that the community and other Bearcat students can see what opportunities they can have at Northwest.

"I always think, man, it'd be really cool if other people can learn about the research they're doing, whether it's related to water, or squirrels, or soil conservation, or in the classroom.  There's somebody who did something on summer camp.  We know we have a lot of students in attendance, but what I'm really hoping is that those students who attended, besides voting, realize some of those cool things they could do during their time here with us."

Brown says all students have to do is create a 4x3 poster about their experience.

"You can put whatever you want on that 4x3 poster.  We plan to make this event for certain to happen every fall.  We're not sure yet if it'll be a bi-annual event.  But our goal in doing it every fall is that students can enter and highlight what they've been working on.  So they might have more than one poster if they are so inclined.  But all things are welcome to be highlighted at this event."

First place for group winner went to Kennedy King and Mariah Gann for their "Books Before Birth" entry, and first place for individual winners went to Joe Suchan for his "New Balance Internship" entry.
